COVID-19 Service Update
Update March 2022
GVCASA is continuing to support clients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID safe practices are being adopted to ensure everyone’s health and safety. Our practices align with public health recommendations.
We know that this is a time of great uncertainty and many of our community members are finding it difficult to manage, be assured that GVCASA is here to support those who are seeking assistance for the impacts of sexual violence.
Please note:
- Referral and Intake functions are continuing as usual, over the phone, and in some circumstances we can provide a COVID Safe face to face duty appointment.
- Therapeutic Counselling is provided by face-to-face counselling, subject to COVID safe practices being used such as screening, social distancing and hygiene practices, and in some circumstances we can provide phone or telehealth (video call) counselling.
- 24/7 Crisis Care Responses for Recent Victim/Survivors of sexual assault are being offered as a high priority and remain face to face with COVID safe practices being used.
- Outreach Services are being provided at most sites, support is being provided to clients by phone or telehealth where no service can be delivered locally.
- Group Work has recommenced in early 2021.
- Education and Training is being delivered face to face with COVID Safe practices and by virtual platforms (Microsoft Teams) as required.
- Secondary Consultations for professionals are available by phone or by face to face appointment as required.

For Family Violence related support please contact Safe Steps Victorian Family Violence Response Centre by phone 1800 015 188 (24/7).

Reaching out for help is often the first step towards healing. We recognise how important it is for victim/survivors to feel confident in moving forward, for this reason Goulburn VUnderstandingalley Centre Against Sexual Assault (GVCASA) has established this website to:
- Provide victim/survivors of sexual assault with an opportunity to explore the range of services we offer to support their healing and growth.
- Create an enhanced understanding of sexual abuse and its consequences.
- Raise awareness of the community education programs we offer.
- To provide information about resources available from GVCASA for victim/survivors, professionals, and those interested in the prevention of sexual assault.
